Yahlive signs New Channel Gem Sports TV

WAM Abu Dhabi, Aug 6th, 2012 (WAM) -- YahLive, the UAE-based Satellite Operator continues to grow its bouquet of channels and adds GEM Sports TV, part of the GEM Group.

With GEM Sports TV, viewers in the Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) region can now enjoy live TV coverage of the 2012 London Olympic Games on Yahlive.

Using YahLive capacity, GEM TV will be broadcasting the live coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics games from London.

This year's 2012 Summer Olympics, runs from the 27th July to 12th August and will be hosted by the City of London at the New Olympic stadium in East London with a wide array of Olympic events taking place across some 30 different UK locations.

"The recent rights acquisition and agreement for GEM Sports TV to broadcast the 2012 London Olympics via the YahLive Satellite, will enable TV viewers across the Gulf region to experience the Olympic Games in ultimate HD, and is a natural extension of our long-standing partnership with GEM TV," Mohamed Youssif, CEO of YahLive said.

YahLive provides one of the highest quality HD broadcasting services within the region.

"We are very happy to strengthen our partnership with Yahlive and launch GEM Sports that will broadcast the coverage of the 2012 London Olympic Games," Saeed Karimian, Chairman of GEM Group said.

"We chose YahLive exclusively because Yahlive's orbital location of 52.5 degrees East, provides an optimal line of sight for direct reception within the Gulf area," Karimian further added. "Using YahLive's unique connectivity, GEM Sports will transmit its Olympics TV coverage in HD and SD on a 24/7 basis for the duration of the Olympic Games, in 3 different languages - Arabic, English and Farsi." YahLive is a partnership company with Yahsat, the United Arab Emirates-based satellite communications company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company, and the global satellite operator SES.
