SHARJAH: Sharjah Charity Association has opened an orphanage in Karnataka state in South West India a cost of AED 700,000 to house and serve more than 200 orphans.

The new 3-story orphanage in Kulem provides housing, health, educational and cultural services as well social and psychological care for the orphans, according to head of projects at the Association Mohammed Hamdan Al-Zarri.

He called for donations for the project's second phase which is still to be constructed to provide housing units for teachers, a healthcare center, a kitchen and dinner hall.
