WAM Dubai, Jul 18th, 2012 (WAM) - A symposium held under the patronage of Minister of Social Affairs Maryam Al Roumi has called on the authorities to speed up passage of legislations for child protection and to introduce clear stipulations to punish domestic violence.

The symposium also urged the lawmakers to include clear text in the legislations to punish those who abuse elderly people through verbal or physical violence.

The symposium, organised by the Ministry of Social Affairs, was attended by delegates from seventeen various government authorities in the UAE.
