Turtle star promotes environment awareness drive at PHL pavilion

Jul 15, 2012 - 12:02 -

WAM Yeosu. S.Korea, July 15th, 2012 (WAM)-- To a pleasant surprise to many who happened to visit the Philippine Pavilion at 2012 Yeosu Expo, they could meet in person with a young Emirati schoolboy and actor Ahmed Al Dahoouri, who become an idol for his role in the UAE Pavilion's featured film "Turtle." No sooner he entered into the Pavilion than two dozens of school children surrounded him and competed each other to get his autograph.

"I'm so happy to have a rare opportunity of meeting him here and talking to him,' said Kim Mi-na, a fifth grader boy at Songgok Primary School in Yeosu.

The main film at UAE Pavilion has been praised for its dramatic and entertaining presentation of a strong environmental story.

"The young Emirati boy has become quite a popular film star here," Kim said.

Meeting with school boys of his age at the pavilion, actor Ahmed Al Dahoouri said that he is very proud of being Emiratis because his country's leaders are always ready to listen to children who come out with any idea of environment conservation.

He was referring to one Emirati boy who won Abu Dhabi Awards presented by General Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Commander of the UAE Armed Forces for his contributions to conserve environment.

The schoolboy known as Abdul Mugeeth took initiative to collect plastic bags for recycling.

The small start then became a pan national campaign in UAE which eventually leads to making paper bags instead, thus highlighting the cause of environmental conservation.
