UAE makes extraordinary efforts to promote education : Hamdan bin RashidJul 14, 2012 - 05:36 -
WAM DUBAI, 14th July 2012 (WAM) -- H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, today opened the 12th edition of the Asia Pacific Conference on Giftedness at the Dubai International Convention ''&'' Exhibition Center.
Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for the Distinguished Academic Performance is hosting host event from July 14th to July 18th 2012. This first Conference on Giftedness set in the Arabian Gulf will cement the region s commitment to and contribution in consolidating the development of world class standards and best practices for the gifted and talented students community.
Addressing the opening session, Sheikh Hamdan said :''We have the pleasure to welcome you all to the opening ceremony of 12th Asia-Pacific Conference on Giftedness "Giftedness 2012" which the city of Dubai is honored to host and sponsor as being one of the most prominent scientific events. Such event comes as education is witnessing a qualitative development because of the modern technology.
''In the UAE specifically, the political leaderships are currently exerting extraordinary efforts to promote and develop education. With the considerable partnership of our Award for Distinguished Academic Performance, the Ministry of Education managed to implement a plan for supporting gifted students that targets this category in all schools.
''This conference with its experiences, subjects, and participations provides a rare opportunity for enriching the educational systems and the emerging plans, as well as for qualifying the programs targeting such gifted category. We hope that all participants would concentrate on the gifted category among the special needs who are worthy care and sponsoring more than others.
''We are quite confident that the conference shall enjoy the foster and care of the organizing committee in order to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of all those gifted not only in the Asia-Pacific countries rather in the entire world,'' he added/ The five-day event will be held under the theme : "Nurturing Talent, Growing Potential" ; Capitalizing on human potential at the early stages and nurturing talent through education.
In line with previous Asia Pacific Conference on Giftedness, the proposed program will feature a balanced blend of informative keynote presentations, practical learning sessions along with educational youth camp activities. The event aims at providing professionals with reliable methodologies and best practices to identify and nurture talented children.

The 12th Asia Pacific Conference on Giftedness is the forum to share expertise, experience and practices to enhance our capabilities (on a parental, individual, institutional and governmental level) in providing and procuring to our brilliant minds a safe, sound and sustainable educational environment.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mrs. Datin Mansour, Malaysia's First Lady, a number of GCC and Arab education ministers, Dr. Ali Al Qarni, Director General of Arab Education Office in GCC, Jiannong Shi, President of Asia-Pacific Federation of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children, Ali Mehad Al Suweidi, acting Undersecretary, UAE Ministry of Education, Dr. Jamal Al Muhairy,Deputy Chairman of Board of Trustees of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for the Distinguished Academic Performance in addition to 270 educators representing 42 countries.
