KZHF provides assistance to Zanzibar's displaced people in Yemen

WAM Abyan, July 3rd, 2012 (WAM) -- The delegation of the Khalifa bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation (KZHF) has arrived in the Yemeni city of Zanzibar, the capital of Abyan province, becoming the vanguard organisation reaching in the city to undertake humanitarian activities.

The Foundation distributed 800 food parcels among displaced people in the city of Zanzibar in cooperation with the concerned local authorities.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency "WAM", the Governor of Abyan Jamal Al Akel hailing KZHF humanitarian gesture said: " This is the first organisation who has reached here to provide assistance among Zanzibar population hard-hit by difficult humanitarian conditions." He also commended the AED 500 million grant of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for buying various food items to be distributed among Yemeni people noting that it is a continuation of the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan.

For his part, Juma Al Kuwaiti chairman of KZHF's team, said that the situation is very bad in Zanzibar and lacks the most important infrastructure necessary for life stressing that the beneficiaries expressed their happiness with this noble gesture.

Moreover, the affectees expressed gratitude and best wishes of good health for Sheikh Khalifa and more prosperity and progress for the people of the UAE.

The UAE President had assigned KZHF to purchase these supplies from the local markets in order to activate the Yemeni economy and revive its domestic market.

Sheikh Khalifa has also given directives to distribute the food supplies directly among the Yemeni population by setting up outlets in the different regions of Yemen to ensure they reach to large number of people.
