RCA dispatches humanitarian aid to those affected by drought in Mauritania

WAM Nouakchott, Jun 25th, 2012 (WAM)--The Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has in cooperation with the UAE Embassy there provided humanitarian aid to those affected by the drought in Mauritania. It included basic food items, such as rice, wheat, sugar and oil.
The move comes within the framework of the RCA to tackle the effects of famine and drought in the Western Coast of Africa.
Over 14 million people in a number of Western African countries are affected by the drought that led to the food insecurity and malnutrition, especially among the children. Mauritania, Niger, Chad, Mali, Burkina Faso and some regions of Senegal were hard hit by the drought that claims 300, 000 lives annually.
