Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation distributes food aid in Yemen

WAM ADEN: The Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation has started procuring and distributing food supplies to Yemeni in hunger-struck Abyan governorate in line with directives by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to allocate AED 500 million to help Yemen counter food shortages.

1350 people, or 350 families, were the beneficiaries of phase-1 of the Foundation's Yemen operation as they received food packages containing rice, sugar, flour, milk, cooking oil and instant formula.

Head of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation's team in Yemen Juma Al-Kuwaiti said "the initiative restored smile to the faces of refugees." Akram Abdul Kasem, coordinator for the refugees in Abyan said the initiative provides the biggest aid package so far to Yemen.

President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan gave directives to the Khalifa Bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation to procure food supplies from Yemen's local markets in order to boost the country's economy.

The refugees expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al -Nahyan for the generous support which is a continuation of the humanitarian approach established by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan. They expressed best wishes of good health for His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed and more prosperity and progress for the people of the UAE.
