WAM Abu Dhabi, Jun 15th, 2012 (WAM)--The Zayed Giving Initiative has launched the National Camp for Social Volunteering under the theme: "Emirati and Proud".

The Camp aims to inculcate the voluntary work culture, social solidarity and philanthropy among the youth through investment of their energies and talents so as to enable them to serve local and international communities. It also aims at highlighting the UAE's role in the voluntary and humanitarian work outlined by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the course being followed up by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The National Camp for Social Volunteering also boosts spirit of good citizenry, and reinforces the societal partnership among institutions to adopt sustainable societal initiatives.

The move complements the achievements scored by the Zayed Giving Initiative over the last 10 years in the field of sustainable societal development, among others, the launch of initiative to recruit one million volunteers under the patronage of H. H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman for the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Dr Adel Al Shamri, Chief Executive of the Zayed Giving Initiative said the initiative of the National Camp for Social Volunteering has set a new concept for voluntary culture among the youth.
