UAE participates in Arab League's IP meet

WAM CAIRO: The UAE on Wednesday took part in a meeting to discuss the Arab League's possible membership of the World Trade Organization's (WTO) Council for Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) as an observer.
The 2-day meeting is discussing the Arab League's intellectual property protection efforts as well as negotiation with TRIPs Council.
Chief of the Intellectual Property Unit at the Arab League Doctor Maha Bakhit, in remarks at the meeting, said the Pan-Arab regional organization has to have strong regional and international presence.
17 Arab countries are already members of WTO and 7 others are on the way to their membership at the international organization.
