Department of Municipal Affairs exchanges knowledge and experience in GIS with the Cartography Institute of Catalonia

WAM Abu Dhabi, May 28th, 2012 (WAM) -- As step to exchange knowledge and experience in the Geographic Information System Field (GIS) The Department of Municipal Affairs received a delegation from the Cartography Institute of Catalonia in Spain.
The meeting was attended by a number of GIS officials in the Municipal System and witnessed a full presentation about different activities and international projects executed by the Cartography Institute of Catalonia.
Manager of Property '&' GIS Division in the Department of Municipal Affairs Ahmed Awad Al Mazroui gave a presentation about the Municipal System projects in the field of GIS like the addressing system and the establishing of Geographic Names and Addressing Sections as well as various other projects in spatial data management and the geospatial field.
Al Mazroui commented that this meeting aims to exchange knowledge and experience with international institutions specialized in the GIS sector, pointing to the achievements of the Municipal System in this field and it goes in line with the goal of the DMA to adopt the best geographic information system and data - related services.
The Department of Municipal Affairs considers the GIS to be a leading project for developing an integrated spatial data infrastructure which will enhance services in this sector to all the clients and partners of the municipal system in the public and private sector through the well-connected systems that can keep pace with the rapid growth of the spatial data sector and push economic growth and comprehensive development in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The Cartography Institute of Catalonia is a mapping agency specialised in the field of Geographic Information System.
