WAM ABU DHABI: The board of the General Authority for the Security of Ports, Borders and Free Zones on Sunday held its first ever meeting to discuss and approve a number of proposals.

Among the issues discussed at the meeting were the development of the Al-Ghuwaifat border checkpoint to solve the problem of traffic congestion at the vital Senior security officials took part in the meeting which was chaired by ambassador Ali Mohammed Al-Shamsi The General Authority for the Security of Ports, Borders and Free Zones was formed in 2011 by a federal decree law to enhance the UAE's security and protection capabilities at border points and free zones as well as to mobilize the efforts of relevant authorities to advance security efficiency.
