President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan Has expressed thanks to President His highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the unlimited support given by the UAE to the people of Afghanistan and to the efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace, security and stability there.

In a statement made to WAM at the sidelines of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) meeting, held last week in the United States, President Karzai said: "We will never forget the historic stances of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the government and the people of the UAE and their support Afghanistan and to the development, peace and stability there," he said.

Other Afghanis officials also praised for political, diplomatic and financial support and the role played in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
