Al Murr, Cypriot envoy discuss relations

WAM Dubai, May 23rd, 2012 (WAM)--The Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC) Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr received here today in his office at the General Secretariat of the FNC Cypriot Ambassador to UAE Elpidoforos Economou.

Al Murr welcomed the Cypriot envoy, wishing him good stay and success in his new task.

The two sides discussed ways to boost the friendship and cooperation ties.

The Speaker of FNC said the relations have been growing steadily since the establishment of official diplomatic relations in 2007, adding that there is a genuine interest from both sides to further develop the relations, especially in the areas of economy, trade and culture.

For his part, the Cypriot envoy stressed the importance of boosting the relations and activating the economic and tourism cooperation, as well as reaching new economic solutions to tackle the effects of the World Financial Crisis.

He said the UAE is the most important trade partner in the Middle East to his country, thanks to flexibility of its economic system, the advanced infrastructure and the strategic geographic location.

The Cypriot ambassador presented to Al Murr the invitation to visit the Cypriot Parliament to exchange views on the parliamentary mechanisms and bolster ties between the two parliaments.
