DEC reviews health funding system

WAM Dubai, May 14th, 2012 (WAM)--The Dubai Executive Council (DEC) discussed here today at Emirates Towers the proposal of funding the health services in the Emirate of Dubai.

Chaired by H. H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council (DEC) in the presence of H. H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Dubai Ruler and First Deputy Chairman of the DEC and the DEC members, the meeting aims to boost cooperation between the government agencies and private corporations to provide the health services and ensure efficiency in accordance with the Dubai Strategic Plans of 2015.

The Health Funding System will ease access of limited income categories to the health services, promote quality of dispensed health services and upgrade the health system in the emirate.

During the meeting, special proposals regarding the funding of health services, such as, health insurance, special health insurance, covered categories and how best to deal with the insurance system, implementation schedules and expected results were presented.

The DEC also discussed the initial results of survey on the uses of social communication network in Dubai and how to spread awareness on exemplary uses of such networks at the public institutions.

The Council members also reviewed the recommendation of the Economic Development Commission on the decision to stop increasing the fees of government services, and decided to extend the implementation of the resolution and work on the periodic study in this respect.
