2012-05-10 21:14:28
WAM Abu Dhabi 10 May 2012, (WAM)--Department of Economic Development (DED) will organise a lecture on the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer on May 15th at the DED in Abu Dhabi.

The issue of Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer is an important issue to companies that seek to expand their business opportunities at the Exports Markets.

Dr. Adeeb Al-Afifi, Director of Foreign Trade '&' Export Support at the DED stressed that the importance of the lecture lies in the fact that the Intellectual Property for companies, is a basic tool to enhance its competitiveness by increasing their operational efficiency and possibility of getting new products and services that enable them to export to other markets.

Aida Khoury, Director of International Economic Promotion at DED said that foreign investor often needs a partner to enter into the Emirati Market unless he goes in as an investor with a 100 per cent ownership. She added that the foreigner investor is fully prepared to share his knowledge, technology, and intellectual property only if there is a right partner.

Chris O'neil, DED international trade support specialist stated that the experiments and experiences of other countries regarding the technology and intellectual property transfer must be studied, citing the Irish experience, which supports the transfer of technology and intellectual property. This had helped Ireland to become an important player in many sectors, importantly, the information technology, pharmaceutical and Medical equipment sectors.
