Pakistani President hails UAE's humanitarian initiatives

WAM Islamabad, May 06th, 2012 (WAM)--President Asif Ali Zardari has commended the humanitarian stance of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in easing suffering of the victims of catastrophes in his country.

He added that the UAE contributes effectively to boosting the efforts of his government in the fields of rehabilitation and reconstruction, especially in the areas affected by the floods and catastrophes, citing the directives by the UAE leadership to implement many ambitious projects that met the needs of Pakistanis in many vital areas.

Receiving the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) delegation at the Presidential Palace recently, Zardari reiterated that the UAE is one of the main partners to his country in the field of development and necessary services in the regions affected by the natural disasters in Pakistan. He added that the UAE had shouldered huge developmental role in the areas of housing, education, health and basic services.

Zardari made the remarks in the presence of the UAE Red Crescent delegation led by its Chairman of the Board of Directors Ahmed Humaid Al Mazrouei, UAE Ambassador Essa Abdullah Al Basha Al Nuaimi and other senior officials.

He said that the people of Pakistan highly value the humanitarian work undertaken by the UAE Red Crescent and its efforts to bring relief to the people who were affected by the 2005 earthquake and the recent floods.

Al Mazrouei, who briefed the President Zardari about various activities being undertaken by the UAE Red Crescent in Pakistan, conveyed the regards of the UAE leadership to him.

He thanked President Zardari for meeting the RCA delegation and assured him that UAE Red Crescent would continue its humanitarian work for the welfare of the people of Pakistan.
