WAM Sharjah, 28th April 2012 (WAM) -- Firefighters in Sharjah put down a massive fire broke early Saturday in a 40 storey residential tower at Nahda neighbourhood but no one was reported injured.

Some 45 cars were damaged in the fire which started early dawn (at 2:10).

Civil defence teams battled for three hours to control the flames and then started cooling operations to pave the way for forensic investigators to determine the cause of the blaze.

Sharjah Police have evacuated the tenants to the nearby Nahda Park.
