Seven UAE students receive training at Airbus, France

WAM Abu Dhabi, 24th April 2012 (WAM) - As part of a joint initiative between Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and Mubadala Aerospace, seven engineering students have been sent to receive hands-on training in the field of aerospace at Airbus, Toulouse, France.

Implemented for the second consecutive year, the program continues until July 21 and aims to develop the practical skills of the engineering students, drive an increase in the number of Emirati workforce in the field of Aerospace, introduce engineering students to career opportunities in Aerospace and facilitate a consistent flow of knowledgeable and competent engineers in support of the growing industry.

Mrs. Mona Majed Al Mansoori, ADEC's Guidance and Scholarship Division Manager, said that the training program is offered by ADEC and Mubadala Aviation to help achieve the goals of Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 to build a knowledge-based economy through the provision of highly qualified staff in the aerospace industry being among the areas of priority.

"The program is designed to train 50 engineering students for 24 weeks over the next five years in Airbus, France. It will help our students acquire world class skills and practical experience that will introduce them to the career opportunities available at the global aerospace job market. In addition, the training will be counting as approved Credit Hours to be included in the students' portfolios for graduation," she added.

Mr. Homaid Al Shemmari, Executive Director at Mubadala Aerospace, said that "our aim is to train and develop UAE human capital to work in the aerospace industry." "Our strategic goal is to make Abu Dhabi a global hub for aerospace industry. This onsite training program aims to integrate students in Airbus activities and ensure that the experience and practices of one of the world's leading aircraft manufacturers are accessible to our young nationals," he added.

During the program, students also get acquainted with the professional work environment in Airbus and are introduced to new cultures and societies. The program will help improve student skills, independence and self confidence in addition to showcasing the educational and training opportunities offered through the partnership between ADEC, Mubadala and Airbus.
