OIC Secretary General Condemns Terrorist Bombings in Iraq

WAM Jeddah, April 22nd, 2012 (WAM) -- Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the terrorist bomb attacks in Baghdad and other provinces on Thursday, which resulted in the death and injury of so many innocent people.
The Secretary General urged the Iraqi people with all their blocs and political forces to safeguard their unity and collectively defeat these terrorist acts which seek to arouse discord, strife and infighting among Iraqis.
He also stressed the importance and need for all to uphold and abide by the provisions of the 2006 Makkah Document which was concluded under the sponsorship of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and which advocates rejection of violence and extremism.
He also expressed the OIC's readiness to convene another enlarged meeting to activate the Makkah Document.
