Minister of Economy stresses support to national industries

WAM Ras al-Khaimah, Apr 21st, 2012 (WAM)--Eng. Sultan Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy has stressed that the UAE takes much interest in the national industry as it provides all sorts of support.

He added during his tour to the Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar) that the national industries have proven their quality and excellence, citing the pharmaceutical achievements scored by Julphar, especially in the biotechnology field, a move he said would further boost the health efforts to tackle the chronic diseases such as diabetes.

For his part, Sheikh Faisal bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Board Chairman of Julphar said the Julphar products are ambassadors to the plant abroad in the wake of successes over the last years. "We can assure that Julphar contributes to developing the national economy as it has established good reputation for the national industries abroad on the world industries' map. It manufactures over 3, 600 medicines bearing "Made in the UAE" and being consumed in over 40 countries worldwide." Based in RAK, Julphar started construction of an insulin plant in the summer at a total cost of Dh500 million (US$136.1m). The Dh500 million (US$136.1m) factory has the capacity to produce more than 50 million vials of insulin each year.
