Wider UAE's humanitarian presence in Central Africa discussedApr 19, 2012 - 08:18 - ABU DHABI: The Foreign Minister of the Central African Republic Antoine Gambi hailed the UAE's support for humanitarian causes in Africa.
Gambi, in remarks during a visit to the Abu Dhabi-based Red Crescent Authority (RCA), underscored the humanitarian and development initiatives by the UAE's humanitarian agency to counter the consequences of natural disasters which recently hit some African countries.
During a meeting with RCA's board chairman Ahmed Humaid Al-Mazrouie , the Central African official discussed the humanitarian situation and needs in his country and a potential wider role for RCA is alleviating the suffering of underprivileged people.
He expressed his country's desire for stronger relations between his country's humanitarian and relief agencies and RCA which is led by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region.
For his part, Al-Mazrouie expressed RCA's preparedness to boost its operations in Central Africa as part of its development efforts to help the most fragile communities.
