Dubai Global Convention 2012 to discuss support to CSR

Dubai city will host the Dubai Global Convention 2012, which includes the 7th International Conference on Social Responsibility, in addition to the presentation of Golden Peacock Awards for CSR '&' Philanthropy.

The event is organized by the Institute of Directors-India (IOD), in association with the Dubai Quality Group (DQG) under the theme "Making CSR an Actionable Business Agenda" between 24-26 April, 2012, at the InterContinental hotel, Dubai Festival City, UAE.

The organizers announced that Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al-Qatami, UAE Minister of Education, would be presenting the Golden Peacock Awards for CSR '&' Philanthropy at the forum.

Dubai Global Convention 2012 aims at all stakeholders interested in sustainability of business and well-being of society, creating profits and improving the quality of life for their organizations and communities. It also targets legislators, lawyers, jurists and those concerned with efficient and ethical conduct of corporate and good governance, in addition to philanthropists, chairpersons of companies, directors, presidents, CEOs, CFOs, bankers, fund managers, company secretaries, NGOs, investors, brokers, chartered accountants, management analysts, financial consultants, academics and students of business, finance and management.

The official opening of the convention will take place on the next day, Wednesday, April 25, and will include 8 plenary sessions consisting of opening session, keynote sessions, panel discussions and Golden Peacock Awards Nite at the 8th plenary session.

Chairman of DQG Saleh Janeeh welcomed the idea of hosting the Dubai Global Convention 2012, which includes the 7th International Conference on Social Responsibility.

He said the city of Dubai is one that constantly drives the wheel of continuing progress of companies and organizations and the social, business and economic responsibility that goes with it. This contributes to the improvement of practical and professional placement of companies, experts and specialists, he said. He called for following the convention keenly, since it deals with rich subjects and multifaceted topics.

Chairman of IOD Advisory Council M. N. Venkatachaliah said in a statement: "The reason for selecting Dubai (UAE) as the venue for the 7th International Conference on Social Responsibility is because of the quantity and quality of the unprecedented business opportunities offered by this fast-growing entrepreneurial capital of the Middle East. This international conference will provide a platform to interact with movers and shakers from around the world, to explore joint business collaborations." WAM/MMYS
