UNHCR official hails UAE's humanitarian efforts

WAM ABU DHABI: A United Nations Refugee Agency official hailed the UAE's contribution to efforts to protect human dignity and improve the humanitarian conditions of refugees around the world.

May Kadkoy, Protection Assistant High Commissioner, The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) described the UAE's humanitarian initiatives as "courageous and noble." Kadkoy made her remarks at the opening of a 2-day workshop organized in Abu Dhabi by the Ewaa Shelters for Women and Children and the international agency under the theme "Principle and Directives for Evaluating Human Trafficking Cases." Officials from the Interior Ministry, UNHCR are taking part in the workshop at the Armed Forces Officers Club.

For her part, Chief Executive Officer of Ewa'a Shelters Sarah Shuhail, said cooperation with UNHCR aims to elevate effciency of efforts to help victims of human trafficking.
