The delegation, consisted of AGI's Director General Alessandro Pica, Editor-in-Chief Roberto Ladicicco and Director of AGI's Arabic Service Irfan Rashid met with Director General of the National Media Council (NMC) Ibrahim Al Abed and Managing Editor Jamal Al Suwaidar.

Earlier last year, WAM and AGI had signed an agreement for cooperation in news exchange and multi-media to serve subscribers of the two agencies, including print and online newspapers, TV channels and other media outlets around the world.

The agreement enabled the two agencies to exchange texts, photographs, reports and TV footage, and facilitate media training in the fields of editing and photo-journalism.

Set up in 1950, AGI is one of Europe's oldest press agencies. Headquartered in Rome, it operates on a nation-wide scale with 16 bureaus across Italy and one at the EU in Brussels.

WAM and AGI have agreed to expand the framework of their cooperation in order to better define the future of the two agencies considering the reality and culture peculiar to each country.
