WAM Abu Dhabi, Apr 17th, 2012 (WAM) -- A regional workshop to prepare for the second session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the UN Human Rights Council opened today in Abu Dhabi.

The workshop, running at the Union Towers in the capital, is jointly organised by The Human Rights Directorate at the UAE Foreign Ministry and the United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region.

Representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the General Secretariat of the GCC States attended the workshop, which was inaugurated by Assistant to UAE Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs Dr. Abdul Rahim Yusuf Al Awadhi.
