Emirati-Indian officials discuss preparations for joint ministerial committee meetApr 15, 2012 - 06:53 - WAM Abu Dhabi, 15th April 2012 (WAM) -- Senior Emirati and Indian officials met here today to hammer out agenda of the 10th meeting of UAE-India joint ministerial Committee.
In his address to the meeting as head of the UAE side, Khaled Ghanem Al Ghaith, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, highlighted the close, distinguished relations between the UAE and India and the dynamism they were witnessing through signed agreements and exchange of fruitful visits.
He hoped these meetings would open up new avenues for broader cooperation between the two friendly countries.
For his part, Sanjay Singh, Secretary for East Division, Indian Ministry of External Affairs, and head of the Indian side, lauded the bilateral relations as ''strong'' especially in trade and investment.
He affirmed that joint meetings between top Emirati and Indian officials underpin the firm common resolve to push these bonds for greater cooperation and coordination.
The committee will explore ways of enhancing bilateral relations in diverse sectors as trade, investment, energy, transport, communications, telecommunications, oil and gas, and consular affairs.
UAE and India maintain brisk trade relations with two-way trade exchange reaching US$ 62 billion in 2010-2011.
