Dubai, 12 May 2010 (WAM) - Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended today a celebration hosted by the American University in Dubai (AUD) to mark the 13th Commencement Exercises that saw honouring of class of 2010.
Present were H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, H.H. Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture '&' Arts Foundation, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ministers, senior officials and relatives of the graduates.
AUD's Executive Vice President Elias Bou Saab delivered a speech in which he welcomed Sheikh Mohammed and thanked him for his continuous support to the university.
He said that AUD prepares its graduates to confront all types of challenges with determination, thought and vision.
He added that the universities activities were centered on humanitarian issues and seeking to help others, drawing from the vision of Sheikh Mohammed and his principles and cultures and inspired by his initiatives such as 'Dubai Cares' and 'Noor Dubai'.
The leading American political and economic commentator Lou Dobbs attended as the commencement guest of honour and speaker.
Dobbs praised the progress attained by the UAE in all walks of life.
Sheikh Mohammed honoured the 500 graduates of Business Administration, IT, Interior Designing, Visual Communication, Electrical Engineering, Computing and Civil Engineering, who received their certificates from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
In the closing speech, AUD's President Dr. Lance de Masi thanked Sheikh Mohammed for gracing the event with his attendance.
