|  | DM concludes second phase of Green Roofs awareness campaignsMar 1, 2010 - 01:42 - WAM Dubai, March 1st, 2010 (WAM) -- Dubai Municipality has concluded the second phase of the awareness campaigns on Green Roofs project in the Global Village, which was held from 18 to 28 February. Engineering models of the project were placed at the Global Village to explain the idea of the project in a simplified form to the public. Dubai Municipality had embarked on the "Green Roofs" initiative during the Green Dubai Forum, which was held in November 2008. The concept was first applied on the roofs of the Municipality building to gauge its positive impacts. Farhan Hassan Al Marzouqi, Head of Corporate Marketing '&' Exhibitions Section in the Corporate Marketing and Relations Department at Dubai Municipality said that the campaign, which was launched by Dubai Municipality in cooperation with companies specialized in the technology of agriculture and the landscaping, aims to clarify the idea of Green Roofs. "The campaign, which aims to preserve the environment, will continuing for 12 months in phases and Phase I and II of the project has been completed. We have already launched the third phase of the project, which will last for one month," he said. "The third phase of the campaign, organized with the participation of Lindex Trading Company, Seloflex Company and Al Yousuf Agriculture and Landscape, is being held at different locations such as the Festival Centre, Al Ghurair Centre and Uptown Mirdiff," Al Marzouqi said. "We plan to continue the campaign in various parts of the Emirate of Dubai with a focus on residential areas in order to reach the largest segment of the community members, as the campaign will continue for one full year until December 2010," he said. Al Marzouqi said that the campaign has received very good response from the community. "We explained the idea of green roofs in a simple way that led the community members to embrace the idea," he said pointing out that some participating companies got working contracts during the campaign period.
