Hamdan e-University organizes the 3rd forum on e-learning excellence in Middle East 2010

Dec 27, 2009 - 11:43 -

WAM Dubai, 27th Dec. 2009 (WAM) -- The Hamdan bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU) will organize the third annual forum on e-learning excellence in the Middle East 2010, from February 1-3 at the Address Hotel, Dubai Mall. The conference will be held under the patronage of Crown Prince of Dubai HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the President of HBMeU.

To be convened under the theme "Brining Global Quality to a Local Context", the forum will bring together top-notch keynote speakers, academicians, e-learning experts, decision makers, educational administrators, researchers and practitioners within various sectors including education, human resources, training and business, as well as representatives of federal ministries and leading organizations and authorities in both public and private sectors.

H.E. Dr. Mansour Al Awar, HBMeU Chancellor, said: "We believe that our vision, shaping the future of education and learning through innovative solutions, requires us to be creative initiators of local contextualization of global quality, within the aspects of learning and education, and this relies on how able we are to think globally but act locally, to help overcome limited scale, bounded thinking,".

"This approach calls for new powerful instruments to enhance online learning, measure its effectiveness, improve the design of learning materials and integrate the evolving role of the teacher, now a facilitator rather than a person who holds the knowledge. But beyond traditional educational management, it also calls for specific accreditation, quality frameworks and policies, as well as for innovative methodologies to support lifelong learning," he added.

"The focus of the 3rd edition of the forum will be on systemic approaches of networked education and training, where every region and culture is keen to participate in the construction of the knowledge society and economy according to global quality standards, while preserving its own specifity, identity and values. Bringing Global Quality to a Local Context is the theme chosen as it reflects the important changes of scale and scope of the HBMeU that evolved from a college to an e-University in February 2009," he concluded.

Networking with a group of the most renowned leaders and pioneers of e-learning from the Middle East as well as from all over the world will be one of the key benefits gained by the attendees who will have access to sessions, workshops, presentations that will provide them with wide perspective on technologies and tools used nowadays in the educational process regionally and globally.
