Sheikha Fatima donates Dh 1 mn to human trafficking victims

WAM Abu Dhabi, 8th Nov. 2009 (WAM) -- HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the UAE General Women's Union (GWU), has offered Dh 1 million in support of the victims of human trafficking as part of efforts to help them lead normal life.

Sheikha Fatima, who also heads the Family Development Foundation, announced the donation during an inspection tour today of the UAE Red Crescent Authority sponsored Shelter for Women and Children Victims of Human Trafficking in Abu Dhabi.

Sheikha Fatima, who was accompanied by Minister of State Dr. Mitha Al Shamsi, was welcomed by Sara Shohail, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Shelter.

Sheikha Fatima acquainted herself with the conditions of the victims and had cordial talks with them.

Sheikha Fatima affirmed the UAE denunciation of human trafficking crimes against the innocent people and pledged to advance all efforts aimed at guaranteeing their financial and spiritual rights and deliver all possible assistance to them until they return back to their homelands.
