Mauritanian President and Sheikh Abdullah discuss bilateral ties

WAM Nouakchott, Nov. 5th, 2009 (WAM) -- President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, here yesterday received H.H Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the accompanying delegation.

H.H Sheikh Abdullah conveyed greetings of UAE President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Mauritanian President.

Mauritanian President congratulated President H.H Sheikh Khalifa on his re-election. He also welcomed H.H Sheikh Abdullah and his delegation, whishing that their visit will help strengthen relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral ties and ways to strengthening them in various fields, especially in economy, trade and investments. They also exchanged views on International and regional developments.

President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz praised the developments witnessed in the UAE under the wise leadership of President H.H Sheikh Khalifa. He welcomed UAE investments in Mauritania and expressed his keen interest in boosting trade and investment ties among businessmen community of both countries and taking advantage of the UAE's successful experience in this area.

The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials from both countries.

H.H Sheikh Abdullah also held a meeting with Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Naha bint Meknes at the Conferences Palace and discussed ways of cooperation between UAE and Mauritania and available investment opportunities.

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Development in Mauritania, on this occasion gave a presentation on the economic potential and investment opportunities in Mauritania.
