Mohammed receives King of Bahrain

WAM Abu Dhabi, 31st Oct. 2009 (WAM) - H.H. Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, welcomed HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain at the Yas Marina Circuit, venue of the first Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

After reviewing bilateral ties, Sheikh Mohammed took his royal guest on a tour of the spectacular motorsport destination where he was listened from organisers about the development of the track from design up to construction phases.

King Hamad toured the sports, tourist and recreational facilities and then attended the trial launc of the F1 race.

Sheikh Mohammed paid tribute to the Bahraini monarch for his country's support to the UAE's bid to host the world motorsport event.

Sheikh Mohammed said the F1 circuit in the UAE is integrated and compatible with its sister in Bahrain.

King Hamad said he was impressed with the unique Yas Marina Circuit and lauded great efforts made for organising the world sport event.

''The opening of the UAE circuit is a new gain to the motorsport in the region and a new addition to the UAE record of achievements under the leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Rulers of the Emirates,''he added.

Sheikh Hamad stressed the importance of maintaining close cooperation between the two circuits in the field of exchange of expertise and organisation of world events.
