| | Abu Dhabi 2009 Pays Tribute to the Late Sheikh ZayedOct 2, 2009 - 10:33 - Abu Dhabi, 2 Oct. 2009 (WAM) - The International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition ADIHEX has witnessed continuous successes since its first session in 2003. During its launch in 2003, the late Sheikh Zayed (may God rest his soul) gave the Exhibition support to become an internationally-recognised name. Since then, the Exhibition had moved a long away to become an ever-growing annual event that attracts more exhibiters and visitors every year. The Exhibition has fulfilled many of the initiatives that the late Sheikh Zayed had called for, including protecting endangered wild falcons. Today Abu Dhabi, in line with the wishes of the late Sheikh Zayed, has become a strong advocate of "sustainable hunting" internationally. The Exhibition also promotes and highlights the importance of culture and heritage, especially that of the locals in the UAE. Senior UAE figures and officials have carried through the plans of Sheikh Zayed. The visions of the late Sheikh Zayed are now becoming reality, thanks to the efforts and support of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Gharbia, Chairman of the Emirates Falconers' Club. Since its third session in 2005, the Exhibition began making record success, where it witnessed a 160% increase in visitors, and 185% increase in exhibitors. International interest continued to increase and today Abu Dhabi 2009 boasts of a booking area larger than 22,000 square meters, an increase of 25 percent since the last session. Also, 573 companies from 37 countries are taking part in this year's session. Organisers of the Exhibition still pay tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed for what they see as his inspiration for protecting both UAE heritage and the environment. One of the late Sheikh Zayed's most memorable sayings was: "The preservation of the nature is a sacred commitment and duty. We must not disturb its vital balance because our survival depends on it. We must play a positive role to leave this land a green place for future generations." WAM/MAB |
