Ascot Racecourse hosts UAE President's cup in EnglandJul 26, 2009 - 05:02 - WAM London, Jul 26th, 2009 (WAM)--England's prestigious Ascot Racecourse, home to UK's top thoroughbred horse race, hosted the third round of the UAE President of Arabian thoroughbred horse race in Ascot in England.
The event was held upon the instructions from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and follow of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The race, which coincided with the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, was attended by Dubai Deputy Ruler and Minister of Finance HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Nayef Al Khalidiah created history by winning the first Purebred Arabian race staged at this over-300-year-old racecourse. Nayef Al Khalidiah's superb effort under jockey Christophe Lemaire has added a new chapter to the rising popularity of Arabian racing here in Europe.
Nayef Al Khalidiah's win in the Emirates Equestrian Federation-sponsored the President of the UAE Cup (Group 1) - also the Arabian Derby of the UK - came in front of a packed Ascot audience on one of the biggest race days at this historic racecourse.
In the Abu Dhabi International Stake, Al Muheer, lady of the desert, two years old, scored the first position.
The President's cup drew the horse race fans exceeding 30, 000 people.
