UAE, France sign a number of agreements in presence of Khalifa and Sarkozy

WAM Abu Dhabi, May 26th, 2009 (WAM)--UAE and France inked today at Al Mushrif Palace a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding in the fields of security, defence and diplomatic representation in presence of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The agreement on security was signed on behalf of the UAE by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and on the French side by French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner. The Defence agreement was on the UAE side by UAE Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, while on the French side by French Defence Minister Harvey Moran.

The UAE and France also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the diplomatic representation. It was signed on behalf of the UAE by the UAE Foreign minister, while on the French side by the French Foreign minister.

Al Mubadala and the Strategic Investment Fund signed the MoU. HE Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, signed on behalf of the UAE, while Michel Jil, CEO of the Strategic Investment Fund, signed on behalf of France.
