Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan for his wise leadership. He said Sheikh Khalifa is a leader who commands great wisdom and vision. In an exclusive interview to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), The Kazakh President praised the UAE for achieving comprehensive development and attributed those achievements to the wise leadership of Sheikh Khalifa. He said with these great achievements and development, the UAE had become the attraction of major international companies looking for the right investment opportunities. He noted that his country was trying to emulate the UAE's experience in economic diversification and diversification of its sources of revenue, adding that the incentives and facilities being offered by the UAE were unmatched by those on offer in other countries in the region. On his talks with the UAE President, President Nazarbayev said they were "positive and fruitful". He said the outcome of those talks will certainly reflect positively on the peoples of the two friendly nations, adding that the exchange of visit between him and the UAE president continued to boost relations of cooperation between the UAE and Kazakhstan and paves the way for new avenues of joint actions. He pointed out that they both shared similar views on a number of issues of mutual interest related to developments on the regional and international scenes. He stressed the need to protect the gains achieved by the two countries in various areas. "We are committed to benefiting from the UAE's experience in the area of attracting foreign investment and investors, as well as in economic zones management where the UAE has achieved great successes. There are also the great development the country has achieved in the area of building and construction, economy and tourism," he said, adding that his visit to the UAE had led to the signing of a number of bilateral agreements, including an extradition agreement, legal assistance on criminal questions and legal assistance in civil and commercial issues. In an answer to a question on the development of bilateral relations between the two countries, President Nazarbayev said bilateral ties between the two countries dated long years back. He said the UAE was the first country to recognise the independence of Kazakhstan 1991, adding that his first visit to the UAE was in 2000 during which he met and held talks with the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan. "Since then relations between the two countries continue to grow stronger," he said. He pointed out that the UAE is his country's number 1 strategic partner in the Arabian Peninsula because relations between the two countries are based on solid foundation in view of the partnership agreements the two countries had signed over the years. He said trade exchange between the two countries reached USD300 million last year, adding that the figure is highly tipped to rise higher in view of the positive economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. --MORE-- WAM/SA |
