|  | Lubna Al-Qasimi, New Zealand officials discuss cooperationNov 26, 2008 - 05:26 - WAM Abu Dhabi, Nov. 26, 2008 (WAM) -- Foreign Trade Minister, Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al-Qasimi, received at her office here today Non-Resident New Zealand Ambassador to the UAE, Dr. Trevor Matheson, accompanied by a delegation consisting of Trade Ambassador at the New Zealand Foreign Ministry, Jim Sutton and representatives of the New Zealand Investment Authority and the New Zealand Trade and Project Authority. During the meeting, they discussed existing trade cooperation between the UAE and New Zealand and ways to boost them. They reviewed the outcome of Sheikha Lubna's visit to New Zealand in March and ways to encourage the private sectors in both countries to boost relations of partnership, enter into joint ventures of mutual benefit in the areas of agriculture, animal husbandry, fishing and sharing of experience in all areas. They also discussed the outcome of the third round of negotiations on the free trade agreement between New Zealand and the Gulf Cooperation Council, held last June. Sheikha Lubna stressed on the need to expand the base of cooperation between the two countries to reach other areas like technology and renewable energy. Trade exchange between the two countries in the non-oil sector last year stood at about AED823 million, including AED180 million UAE export to New Zealand, while UAE import from New Zealand accounted for the remaining AED653 million.
