|  | Sharjah CP opens urban planning seminarNov 23, 2008 - 06:35 - WAM Sharjah, 23 Nov. 2008 (WAM) - H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince '&' Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, today opened the 10th Sharjah Urban Planning Seminar, being held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Dr. John Mosbo spoke on behalf of American University of Sharjah which hosts the event. He said the AUS was prompted by its social role to host the event.
He was followed by Sheikh Khalid bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Public Works Departments, who said urban planning played a central role in Sharjah's strategies to maintain its lead in many fields.
He added that the seminar's main goal was to promote dialogue on urban planning in order to fulfill the community's needs.
At the end of the seminar, Sheikh Sultan opened an exhibition held on the seminar's sidelines and attended by several public and private organisations concerned with urban planning processes.
